I have a wedding in May in Kauai. I've never been to Hawaii before but was wondering if anyone knew of the diving around there and whether I can make it a bit of a spearo weekend while I'm there?

Thanks.

Aloha from Kauai... my brother went with Seasport Divers and many feel they are one of the best. South Shore is where the best sites are and around Niihau the little island off to the west of Kauai. Anyhow, grats on your wedding and if you need a great wedding DJ for music and a fun time, check me at KauaiWeddingDJ.com - smooth sailin' Jeff

Oh, it's not my wedding! I'm a guest. is it hard to get from kauai to niihau? how long would it take, what's the mode of transport and cost? Thanks, will check out seasport now!

Niihau is not easy to get to but if you have the time and money well worth hiring a charter. Seasport divers is probably your best bet but if you have the cash flow you could probably hire a smaller fishing charter. But that is pretty unnecissary as there is plenty of diving to be had around Kauai. It will be begining of summer so southshore will start to show more swell action, water should still be reletively clean but surf can muck up any diving on the southside. East and north sides have plenty of diving, just gotta go explore, and take care where you park. Check all the regulations and bag limits as well. If your on the south side stop in at Seasport divers and ask for Marvin. He is the owner and is a great guy. He would be happy to point you in the right direction and help out with any gear you might need.
