Headed out to the keys this sunday with son and Alan, to meet up with Sporascrub and chump Andy.

Conditions were less than ideal (seems the water follows us everywhere) headed out on the crack of dawn to meet some menacing gray clouds, calm seas and 15 ft vis with some very warm water (hot in a rash guard) first drop in one of Sporas humble holes produced a couple of cuban kings, mut, sheep...and an unexpected visit by a 8 ft HH trailed by about 5 macks....headed out to some deeper, clearer water for some schoolmasters, mangoes, hogs and a nice mack by Andy....followed on to a ridgey bottom that looked quite promising Spora's white grunt was harrassed by a Goli, Alan nailed a yellow jack, my son shot a few schools, mango's and hogs....finally headed 3+ miles to some MM strx nailed some more Cuban Kings, and Alan shot a very decent permit. All in all we had a good day considering it was either raining or overcast the entire day....Hats off to Sporascrub a great guy and a new friend, thanks again for the hospitality, and a great time in the sea....btw your mom makes the best cuban spaghetti this side of the hemisphere:friday

Great report, pretty good for the conditions.
only used an airgun, size?? which key?

thx istriker...farter was a 970 cyranos, Sporascrub shoots a 110 seac (if I recall correctly) and Alan shot a RA, son a 75 cyranos...outa long key

Thanks SS, that's pretty good day.
I'm upgrading to a 110 mares or spark, but cant find the spark here the US.
A lil off-topic here, sorry, did u ever installed the mamba kit?

I think a mamba on a 970 is overkill, better for guns above 100 (110- 135) the cuda in the pic were shot at 10' plus all shots went clear through the head:martial....and man those cudas are hard headed:t

The gun I used is a 120cm Mares Sten (good luck finding one and if you do find it I'll pay top dollar for it :D) Here's a picture from ebay when I got it two years ago

lol how much are you paying?? the new sten guns are only 100 cm here in U.S. The one that is hard to find is the stealth/spark,can only get it from Europe, but it's not worth it since its almost twice as much as a new mares 1100.

$300.....The gun in the pic is the older model of the sten that has an adjustable trigger size. I also have a sten 150cm that has the newer style of trigger (also the same trigger as the spark -black/white), like the model that is currently only made up to 100cm.
Atleast you can get the spark in Europe, I can only find these 120+cm stens off of Ebay whenever someone decides to sell them and trust me I check Ebay everyday.

The only advantage I see with the spark over the cyrano is the camo on the barrel. What I like better about the cyrano is that it can hold the shaft while it's not in use and the aiming with the flourecent sight on top of the barrel is much better. Next time you go to your LDS, take a look for yourself. Compare the Cyrano and the Sten, the only difference between the Sten and the Spark is the camo barrel and the fact that it shoots a 7mm shaft instead of an 8mm. Most people end up taping the barrel anyways just to keep it from getting scratched and damaged against reef or anything a decent size fish would drag it through. Here's another pic of my sten after I set it up and took off the knee loader.
Don't know if you have a account or not but here's a new one going cheap so far: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=015&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=250268768384&rd=1

It's just a matter of.... weeks before I get a Tovarich from Ramon

Tape uh? which kind? Im interested.Mine is starting to show some scratches already. This new hobby is making me bankrupt.

The tape shown in the photo looks just like this one: http://www.identi-tape.com/photos/camo.jpg I hear you on this hobby making you broke, tone can probably vouch on that for me. You can get the tape at Scubas World for about $12 and the roll is big enough to tape 5-6 100cm+ guns.

Not a problem, I posted it on SB because someone else asked the same thing. I'll just copy and paste what I wrote on the other forum:

Ingredient's consist of small (chopped) bits of bell pepper, onion, little garlic, a dab of cooking oil, light colored cooking wine, Ragu old world style traditional pasta sauce, ham and sausage.

This is all cooked in a pot and the cooking wine helps soften the chunks of ham and sausage. Once it's cooked, the ingredient's are stirred with the pasta to help mix it all up and then my mother melts the cheese (Holland ball cheese) over the spaghetti's.

We call it Cuban spaghetti but it’s really from Spain, Spaniards use ham and sausage in most of there pasta.
