Hello peoples - hi from the tropical south pacific where the water is warm, the beer is cold, the girls are slim and the fish are huge!

We are experienceing a mild summer - with water temp ~ 26celcius. This has made for great bluewater spearing. Key species are Yellow Fin Tuna, Wahoo and the reef side Doggies!

Welcome, you sadistic lucky guy!
What are the requisites to migrate to Rarotonga? :D
(I promise I will not be a burden)

Welcome Raro,

Glad to have you on board, but we do expect some good stories. You live in a part of the world I'd love to visit.

Connor

I can build excellent bikes and make computers work, You think I could find a job over there?

Welcome To DB! :wave

Jobs and entry are easy - pay is terrible - fishing not too bad! Just getting into the bluewater side of spearing and still trying to find my way. Hope to learn a lot via the forum.

Kia Orana mate!

One of my best friends at university came from Raro, Titikaveka I think the town was called (near the airport?). Her name was Anita Allan, before she got married. Raro's a pretty small place, you might have heard of the Allan family.

I've never been there but i've heard it's heaven on earth, and Aitutaki is supposed to be island bliss. Enjoy it - i'm jealous as hell!

Cheers,
Ben

Hi ya Ben - yes I do know Anita Allen - went to school with her - shes on the island at the moment so will give her a hello from you

Hey, I just noticed, the forum software gives me two more threads entitled "kia ora [something]" by two members called Tania and Narsil, maybe You know them as well?

kia ora says Tania
kia ora says Narsil

Wow! Welcome.... thanks for making us all green with envy :D Greetings from the desert here to you in paradise :)

Hey BennyB - how's that for coincidence??

You went to school with her? Man that's funny - we lived together for 4 years. She was nearly going to be her in the UK in a few days but I don't think she is now. Norm her dad has been having heart problems and is in NZ at the moment so I guess she's sticking around Raro for a bit longer or she might be heading back to the states. Tell her Ben Noble said g'day, that will spin her out a bit!

The town we went to uni in was a small rural Australian town (high altitude, very cold), but strangely enough there was a lot of Cook Islanders there, so we got treated to a lot of dancing and some great food (especially the potato salad!) a lot of the time. Cook Island girls are the best dancers on the planet!

Sanso, Kia Ora is hello or welcome in New Zealand Maori (correct me if i'm wrong kiwis!). Kia Orana is welcome/hello in Cook Island Maori. That's about as much as I can remember from Anita.

Cheerio,
Ben
