My daughter is turning two next week and it's time she gets her own mask- she keeps stealing my Sphera's, ;)

I want a decent one to use for swimming, and later snorkeling, but not just a cheap pool toy.

Anyone have any suggestions that have worked with your kids- Don, Sven??

Thanks,

Jon

I got my daughter a mares target. I was told that it fits on kids faces. To my surprise, it DID fit, very well. But my daughter was a little older than yours, 4 at the time. Check my gallery for an underwater picture of her wearing her mask :)

Not sure you can find decent masks (silicone) for 2 year olds.

Would a Cressi Minima fit? It's such a small mask.

I've got a Picasso Nulla and an OMER Abyss that are both too big for her.

I see that there is now a Sphera jr. that I was wondering if anyone has seen yet, otherwise I am still open to other options.

My little guy is 5 and he's just started fitting into my masks after us trying a bunch of poorly made "kids masks." I found fins for him, but a mask that fits well is still eluding me. If you find something Jon, let me know!

I bought my two year old a mask but it was too big. She does however love a pair of pink speedo goggles we bought her. They are high quality and often goes under with them on in the pool. Getting her to breathe through a snorkel is going to be the big trick I think. She may fit the mask later this year.

One problem we are having is she is getting ear infections all the time from the local pool. I understand there are drops you can use to ward the infections off.

Anyone know if they can be used on kids? Brand names?

You can use alcohol mixed with boric acid to saturation (aproximately 13% boric acid). Don't use 96% proof alcohol, as that can irritate the ears. I think you can buy alcohol at around 70% in the pharmacies. One or two drops in each ear after the session will dry out the ear. Once the drops are in the ear you can drain it immediatly. The alcohol breaks the surface tension of the water in the ear causing it to run out and not stay there over the days. The boric acid is a disinfectant.

I used to suffer lots from ear infections, and since a doctor recommended this I've never had another infection.

Adrian, a minima might fit, but since it has a VERY small field of view, it might not be the best for a kid.
