Heya folks, wondering if anyone has had much luck shooting kingfish while shorediving here in new zealand, I've been into huge schools of kahawai and trevally but the kingfish just weren't there... I was wondering if berley would do the trick, problem is visibility has been so crap here in the bay of islands that berley means sharks, and I prefer being able to see the beast that may eat me. But hey, if that's what it takes....:crutch

Hi Spearslinger,

Well, here on some certain spots on the Westcoast are people constantly spearing Kingies from shore. I've never been lucky but seen enough proof... Kapiti is a good spot and I would assume the odd reef round Taranaki has some hidden gems. But anyway: You can't complain, White Island is just round the corner (might be a bit of a swim, thou)

Yeah I have shot quite a few from the shore but not this last season. Here Title(Kingys)is a video of Kingys at Rabbit from last season
