Knot to tie mono spear line to reel line cord.

What is the name of the knot used to tie the mono line of the spear directly to the reel line?

The Cressi manual recommends using this knot.

However when I try it the mono slips through. Does anyone know the name of this knot so I can find a better a guide on how to tie it?

I've never tried to tie them together like that. I've always used a pigtail like this. It's fast and easy if you have to change shafts out on the boat. I use a bowline to tie the other end to the reel line and crimp the shooting line.

Thanks I will use that for future reference.

In the meantime I'm going to keep my gun standard for the first trip or so & wish to tie the mono directly to the cord.

That looks like an albright knot, never liked those. Try a grinner to grinner knot, you'll only need 3 turns on each grinner for speargun line.

Like Hank said, its much easier to use a pigtail or snap swivel. Then when you shoot a fish, you can detach the shooting line and pass the shaft through in the direction it entered rather than having to get a flopper back through the fish.

Thanks people you've sold me. I'll add a pigtail or a swivel. I was thinking I wouldn't need one at this stage as I don't have a spare shaft however I can now see how it will make it easier when dealing with a fish.
