Has anyone been freediving in Thailand? Particularly Ko Lanta? I am thinking about planning a trip there - I want to go climbing, so probably be based at Railey/Krabi, and saw that there was some good freediving in Ko Lanta, which appears to be quite close.

If so, any beta would be gratefully appreciated - where did you stay, is there good diving straight off the shore, or will we need a boat to access deeper water?

I think Roland (Immerlustig on db) was there, you can try PM him.
I dived in Surin (not really a day trip option) and Ko Tao.

Monica and Eusubio are in Koh Tao if you go to the gulf. They have a really good freediving school there and I'd hesitate a guess and say that they have taught more people to freedive than anyone else. Their site is Apnea Total

Thanks for the info everyone.
Is the deeper water (about 40+m) accessible from the shore or do we need a boat?
Where did you stay?

Any other tips would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks
steff
