Hey,

can anyone recommend diving spots in/around the Eifel, Cologne, Bonn, Aachen area?
I heard there's a Gasometer somewhere that's been turned into a dive-park...

Greetings,

sanso

Hey Sanso,
lakes near cologne:
- fühlinger see (köln)
- bleibtreusee/heider bergsee (brühl)
- monheimer see (langenfeld)
- blausteinsee (near aachen)
- zülpicher see (zülpich)
- rurstausee (eifel)
and many other places
you need entrance fee to dive there.
in some places ì have learned to dive *g
regards
reinhard

Cheers!

I'll be staying near Düren over christmas - incl. the week before - and for one or two weeks in February (don't have the dates fixed yet.)
Care for a dive?

P.S.: I'd have to get a suit, though. - Any recommendations for that?

for the blausteinsee you need the aowd (i don`t have it, i`m a f"resh" owd, 12 dives), for the other lakes you need only owd.
suit: best is a drysuit (if you have), but a good 7mm is enough, if the weather is ok, the water temperature will be 10°C, if you dive under 10 meter, there will be 8°C (brrrrrr, cold, i have this temperature in august, above 10 meter there was 21°C). I use a 5 or 7mm mm wetsuit (without zippers) with additional shorty.

Ah, I hear layering is the latest thing on milans catwalks ;-)
I'll most likely be freediving, so I guess no need for [A]OWD or the likes, right?

for freediving i think you are right, you don`t need any of these brevets.

yeah, layering is the latest fashion fad, a little bit too warm for the catwalk and a little bit too cold in lakes in winter *lol
