Gene Lake Vis Has Been Great Lots Of Fish In Shallow Less Than Ten Feet Of Water The Channel Catfish Semi Hybrinate You Pick Them Up Swim To The Surface And At The 3 Ft Mark They Wake And Swim From Your Hands Kinda Fun . Khel Is Going To Call Me Tommorow And Let Me Know If The Lake Has Frozen Up Hope Not I Have My First Mono Fin To Try Out.

Gene Carp Have Been Shallow Less Than 10 Ft As Have The Pan Fish I Seen Plenty Of Carp The Pan Fish Have Been Small Yesterday Wind Was Strong Waves Were Up Not Sure How Long Before The Bay Freezes Up.

Sounds good. Keep me informed on when you plan to go out again...I'll try to make it. I really want to see what the 5mm suit can stand.

How many carp do you see each trip? Do you spear?

Thanks.

Gene

Gene I Dont Spear I Am To Cheap To Get A Wi Fishing Liscence For Carp. The Last Time I Speared A Fish Was In The Philippines I Do Not Yet Own Spear Gun Today I Bought Water Proff 3 Finger Gloves. I Kinda Have To Make My Purchases Gradual So I Do Not Get In Trouble With My Wife. As For Carp There In Real Shallow I Like To Go Little Deeper. Hope You Break Your Suit In Soon And Spear A Monster Rob

Rob,

I hear ya on the "gradual spending" thing...I have to do the same...

What are your plans for this Saturday? Did you find out if Lake Geneva is completely frozen or not?

Thanks,

Gene

Gene I Work Every Other Weekend However Willing To Meet You About 930 Or 10 For Couple Hours. I Work Second Shift I Could Call Nick Friday And Get A Lake Report. Weather Has Become Colder Not Sure How Long The Lake Will Last. Rob

I drove by the outlet on LAke Monona to day and the whole thing is forzen over. There is one, very small, little spot of open ice but there were no fish in it that I could se. There were about a 1,000 birds huddled in that one spot, crapping away, and it didn't look to appealing.

Jon

Would be like snow under water!!! rofl

Yes, it sure has been cold lately...should be no problem for the Freeze-A-Palooza.

If anyone knows of any open water...that is clear, let me know...I really want to get out.

Thanks,

Gene

Will be heading to Lake Geneva tomorrow about 11 O'clockish...(I needed a day off!) :t I think I'm gonna bring the 'yak too...Good platform for a search and destroy mission for O'l Leatherlip's... :martial Probably Headin' out from Linn pier. Nice big, relatively shallow, weedy area near there. Or so it shows on my 3-D "fishing" map anyways...We'll see! Thats also where some dude's recently told me "The Hogs" hang out this time of year...Again...We'll see!

Anyone wanna come with? PM me or post if ya do. :)

I'm possibly thinking of going to Lake Beulah maybe...Supposedly just as clear as Lake Geneva...But just as many boats too! :vangry The fish should be in relatively shallow water.

Nah...I'll do Geneva tomorrow...State record Carp came from there!

Anyone know of a place you could do a "shore entry" on Lake Beulah? I only know of one public launch? I'd like to check it out some day with the 'yak...It just may be an awesome lake...Who knows? Pretty big and with good depth. I'd like to giv'er a shot soon...Please post any info!

I'll post about my "Hunt" tomorrow on another thread! Hopefully the "contest" thread! ;)

Re-Rigged my speargun too....Fish are gonna die! :hungover

you can HOPE lol :martial dont think i can make it there with ya sorry

Went in off of Linn pier #1 today - Lake Geneva. Water temp was @ 53* degrees...Vis was anywhere from 3 to 15 feet...There was also a distinct "brown line" or layer of murky water of about 2-3 feet on the top...Under that was much better vis in most spots.

No Carp were seen at all...I did see some of the BIGGEST Smallmouth Bass I have EVER seen though - They just love to follow you around - Like they know they're safe! A giant Walleye that I stumbled upon and "touched" with my hand's had to have gone over 10 pounds! Saw a few Brown Trout too! :)

Tried sneaking up on two VERY big Bluegills hanging out near a "clump" of SIX sunken shopping carts chained together!!! - But could not get within' range of the big one's...As is usual with "supersized" Bluegill's unless they're spawning...And I personally don't like to take too many big one's when they're spawning...:hmm But rest assured "this year" I will take a few!
It was obvious that the shopping cart's were placed there to attract fish - But it was pretty ugly if you ask me...

Other than that it was a realy nice day out...Just a little windy...Ended up taking home two 9" Bluegills and a couple of 11" Rock Bass...They went good with some rice, soy sauce and some spring onions, and a little wild asparagus...My wife did'nt like it, But my little boy ate alot of it! He won't eat meat very often unless it's breakfast sausages or hotdogs... But he loves fish, eggs and raw vegetables! Just like his Daddy! :t
