Since May my daughter and I have been Diving along a large limestone breakwall here in Grand Traverse Bay. I just got a Camera last week and, while the visibility has been bad and the water generally choppy - we've encountered some really interesting creatures - some of which are pretty unusual for this area. All the apex predators we've seen on separate occasions in the same very small area - they include a spotted gar - which I've never seen before - a Northern Pike and the biggest smallmouth bass I've ever encountered. I've got a shot of the gar in the gallery but am having some trouble getting some of the others uploaded - probably try downsizing them a bit.
Yesterdays dive was fantastic - the water was really bad at the surface - 2 or 3 meters at best - but below 5 meters it cleared up to where I could see probably 10 or 12 meters horizontally - though it was very hazy. Two large carp came in out of the mist to check me out from above - I was at close to 10m depth - and I was able to document their approach. As I turned to track them I saw another HUGE carp sillouetted against the low sunlight right behind me. Made for some interesting shots. That was also one of my longest dives to date.
Heres a link to the Gar - very turbulent and cloudy water - extremely impressed with the little casio camera.
