Picked out my favorite three:

Grabbed a piece of driftwood from the shore of Lake Wingra - Dropped the fish off at 4 Lakes Taxidermy - and three months later.

I told the taxidermist to make them look natural/subtle - no beaming yellow bellies and scarlet fins.

Why Ted???? It's ugly......Fish is for food..Not to post on a wall.Sorry..Thats my point of view.

No need to apologize for having a point of view, Kalin. But, your comment does remind me that I am caught between worlds - the world of the DB purists and the Spearboard killers. I am neither, and consequently have posted less and less at both places.

This is the first animal mount I've ever had done in my life. Usually, I'm satisfied with a photo.

But, I'll not apologize for my point of view, either. I like showing guests how freakishly large these perch can grow. I like being reminded of the fun I have hunting with the boys in Michigan. And for what it's worth, I did get to eat the fish in the form of fish tacos. The taxidermist was able to remove 90% of the meat from the side of the fish facing the wall.

In time, I'll likely donate the piece to an educational/research institution. That was another reason I had it preserved at close to the original colors as possible.

I love the mounts!!! They are cool - and with the Lake Michigan Perch- would probably be the only ones I would do too- Unless It was another fish of RECORD size. They are a nice reminder and Great conversation pieces.

I have done that with 3 deer that I shot- I still ate off the deer too. I would post a pic but The EX - INLAWS have them- Bummer!!!!

Ted for what it’s worth I thing they look real good and when it comes to “giving them away” I happen to know of a certain shelf on a certain wall within a certain house in the UK that would show them off in the manor that they deserve.:):)

Nice work Ted. You should have gotten one of Jeremy's stuffed, with the guts hanging out and all :)

Not that I know anything about perch, but I thought those looked awfully large.

Buddy of mine mounted a 70 lb black grouper he shot on a trip I was on more than 30 years ago. A very expensive extravagance when none of us had any money. He has still got it on his wall and it gives a thrill of pleasure whenever he or any other spearo sees it. At 10 cents a thrill, he got his moneys worth a long time ago.

Great job Ted!!

Connor

I like your trophy and I'm sure they are splendid specimens. They look good and I'm sure would impress many people as well as giving you much pleasure and good memories.

However, I think it's a bit of a time and place thing. A few years ago I would have raved about your trophies and been jealous but now I think I wouldn't do it myself. For me the time and place have passed. I've still got a wall full of photo's in the den though.

Don't supposed you weighed them? They could be imortalised in the DB Hall of Fame.

Dave.

Holy mutation! 15 inch perch!!

I think its pretty cool Ted. I'd like to come over there sometime just to go Perch hunting!

I'm originally from the Traverse City, Michigan area....i think it is great that spearfishing is taking hold up there. Great friggin perch by the way....can't wait to get home and try my hand at the dumb fish in lake Mi!!!! They are so skittish out here in Guam. Thanks for the post!!!!
