Im going to be going to Lake Palestine, Texas for the first week in July. Has anyone dived there?

I'll probably be heading out to Athens Scuba Park as well. It's pretty shallow, but there are supposed to be a lot of wrecks.

Anyone up for a dive, or know of any other spots?

My sister did her checkout dives there at Athens Scuba park. I believe its about 35'deep.

We have a rock quarry about an hour east of Dallas in Terrell, TX. thats about 58' deep. The vis usally drops off pretty fast due to all the newbies doing their checkout dives, by Saturday afternoon the vis is less than 10 feet.

A really nice lake in Austin, TX. called Lake Travis. Decent vis of 15' on a good day and very deep. 170' plus. The freedivers and scubies dive out of Mansfield park dam area. Several freedivers in that area.

Lake Palestine isn't really divable. Extremely murky and you run the risk of impaling yourself on one of the numerous trees in the lake. Athens Scuba Park is where I do most of my teaching and it is pretty good. A number of wrecks makes it an interesting site and there are docks and platforms as well. Terrell's Park (Clear Springs) is nice as well.

I'm actually in Hurst, TX. but nobody know where that is.

Give me a shout if you are planning to go to Clear Springs Scuba Park anytime.

Thanks for the replies.

Austin might be a little far for me. I'm going to be about 20 minutes or so from Tyler.

Are either of you free anytime this weekend or next week? I'm going to be stuck around the house with not much to do, so I'm retty much open to anything.

Heck, I am teaching a lifeguard training course that will take me through next week. PM me and maybe we can get together at some point.
