I'm planing to be in Charlottesville, VA on May 7th, 8th, and 9th (and maybe the 10th) without too much to do, and I'd really like to get underwater. I was thinking of checking out Lake Rawlings (Lake Rawlings - A Scuba and Camping Park). Anyone have any experience freediving there, or any other suggestions in the area?

I'd also love to find a buddy, if anyone else is up for it any of those days.

By the way, I'll have a car if anyone wants to go diving those days and needs a ride from a reasonably-close part of Virginia.

Last chance! I need to go today if I'm going to go, but I need a buddy.

Well you have found a buddy!!!! I live in manhatten and dive a LOT.

I spearfish freed dive only but love to scuba dive and foridge on scuba

nice to meet you. Hope you have a good dive.

I am thinking of starting free diving in dutch springs in PA

Just to round out the thread with some potentially useful information: I called Lake Rawlings and they said freedivers are welcome, but need to bring a buddy. Since I didn't have one (and wouldn't have gone without one, anyway), I can't tell you what it's like.

jimy286, I also live in Manhattan and am thinking of checking out Dutch Springs when it warms up a bit and I can take a break from my dissertation.
