Ted and I just got out of Waubesa about 30 minutes ago and it is at it's peek right now!

Vis is about 10' or so - which is great for that lake. Water was 64F and the fish where everywhere! I saw so many fish swimming around that it puts any other lake in the state to shame. Of course, clear water lasts maybe 10 days a year so you have to get it while it's hot.

I ended up with a dozen crappie and Ted ended up with almost the same. He blew me out of the water with best find of the year- a tackle box with at least $400 worth of stuff in it brand new. All of the fisher-folk were pretty interested in that when he pulled it out of the water.

There were also plenty of musky, carp, bass, perch, bluegill, and all of the other usually suspects. I only wish I could have dove longer. I also wish I would have had new slings on my gun as I missed some shots that I shouldn't have.:head

I probably won't have enough time to hit her again this season, but she's pretty fantastic at the moment.

That's pretty awesome! Maybe I'll go there instead of Crystal lake. I'm torn. I think i will- cause I don't know when I'd be able to make it there again- either.

NICE stringer's of Crappie's there! I wish I could make it up there soon but work has got me runnin' bigtime lately...I can't complain about that though! Alot of guy's in the "construction biz" are'nt doing too well, so I count myself lucky..

Them Crappie's taste soooo good early in the year outta relatively cool water's! Yum!!!

Actually maybe I can get up there Saturday! Whopperhead...You goin' there?

Been itchin' to hit Moose too...It's been basically "private" for quite a few years until they built a new but small launch area a few years ago. Did exceptionally well there "last year" on nice sized bluegills and crappie's.

Again Jon and Unirdna...Nice catch! Not to mention the full and "newer" tacklebox! Cha ching - Score! :t

I'm going to go today (friday) i'll be there till about 2pm - Saturday I think I might go to Crystal or Wood Lake. and Then Sunday MENDOTA

Nevermind- My wife reminded me when I got home from work this morning - that I have to take my littest one into a DR. Appointment. - So, Back to the original Plan- Going to Crystal lake. Maybe I can squeeze in some time to get there this next week. If I'm not too late.

A friend of mine lost his wedding ring while getting out of his sailboat two nights ago and asked me to find it for him- so I did.

It was in Lake Monona so I didn't get a chance to dive Waubesa today- and probably won't again this season. Monona is pretty clear right now and the lake has warmed up to 57F- not quite the 64F that Waubesa is but the vis is pretty good.

I only got two crappie today, but I'll add them into yesterday's haul and make a meal out of them. I also found an anchor to round out the day's activities.

P.S. Friend now owe me and the wife a dinner- sweeeet!

Jon

Geez, that's a good find. I think I'd rather find a needle in a haystack than a ring in a lake!

Man that looks like a nice spot Jon... good take on the fish, and luck(?) on the wedding ring find!

I will be at Lake Waubesa today- getting there around 9am-ish. I'll probably first check out the northeast boat launch and see how it is. Look for the dive flags- if anyone cares to join. I will not have the boat with me today.

dotey and I went to Lake Waubesa for about 5 hours. Vis was 10-16'. Water temp was 62 degrees. This lake has it all. I saw Muskie, Northern, Carp, Suckers, Freshwater Drum, Perch, Bluegill, Crappie, Striped Bass, Large and Small mouth Bass, Huge Walleye. The striped bass were good size too and I THINK you can spear those. But wasn't sure and not sure how they taste.

We had to play 'DODGE THE BOATS' - there were boats EVERYWHERE!!! And as usual they have no clue or idea what the dive flag means or the rules. Still ended up shooting some good eating fish- 2 Perch and 4 Crappies. I also shot 12 more CARP. We could of EASILY Limited out within an hour. There were Crappie and Bluegills EVERYWHERE. I don't think I've seen so many fish in one lake.

One more day to rap up this Memorial Weekend Spearfishing. Sounds like the storms/rain are going to stay away till the Afternoon- so, we should be good for a few hours. Lake Mendota - 9am- Govornors Island.
