Anyone spearos around Manchester a novice can hook up with? limited experience but aiming to improve in the UK this year.

Welcome Chris,

There's more spearo's than you'd imagine around the Manchester area. Where are you? Are you a freediver?

Am in Openshaw no not a freediver but recently had a go spearfishing abroad and want to continue in the Uk

Hi Chris. I'm one of the few people on here that think the word Manc before your name is a good thing :)

We run several sessions a week in the Manchester area and also organise courses for Freediving and Spearfishing. You are welcome to contact me and we can discuss the best way forward for you.

Here are a couple of pages to look at first. I'm diving the next four days on and off, but if you try me if i'm available I can cat, or leave me a number with the best time to get you and i'll get back to you, my number is on the website :)

Speak soon buddy...

Hi Chris & welcome to the forum. You will find loads of helpful Spearo's on here (as I did). I'm in my second year of spearing in the UK & like you I got into it abroad. I'm about 40min North of Manc near Colne. But I try & get down to North Wales & Anglesey as often as I can. My UK spearing started well but in hindsight I think it was begginers luck! Because my recent trips have been abysmal. Think I might try a course.

Chris,

I'd recommend taking Steve (apneaboy) up on his offer, he'll teach you how to get good dive times, spearing technique, but most importantly, how to dive safe. You'll also get introduced to quite a few other spearos. Including me.

Hi Chris,

I have recently relocated to the North West (Liverpool) and am also looking to meet other freedivers and spearos having not been in Sea in 8 months or so!

I have a little freediving experience but never been spearfishing before, hopefully this will change shortly! I dont have any of my own gear yet either so im going to need to sort that out.

Apneaboy, would it be ok for me to contact you too? (dont mean to hijack your thread Chris!)

All the best,
Tom
