After lots of lurking and using scuba gear to take an FII course, I finally sprung for pathos footpockets and leaderfins blades. The issue I have with installation stems from everything on the web indicating the blade should be shoved as deeply into the footpocket slot as possible. I have the largest possible pathos footpockets however, and when I do this, the bend in the blade does not align with the toe and tendon bend. Since the footpocket is so big (14-15 US), the blade slides in much further than it would on smaller footpocket sizes.
It seems like it would be very annoying to have the bend of the blade near the middle of my foot vs near the toes where the footpocket seems to indicate they go. I was thinking of gluing the blades in so that the bend matches up with the little bend in the footpocket near the toes, but then I can feel the large gap on the underside of the footpocket left by the blade not being fully inserted. Does this gap matter? In other posts it seems like the fin loses power and control when not seated as far back as possible, but that doesn't seem right in my situation. Glue will make the toe section lay flush regardless, but it would add a weird arc to the footpocket sort of like rock climbing shoes with the toes pointed down.
Should I just glue the blades so they align with the footpocket natural bend and not worry about the gap on the underside of the footpocket then?
