Hi,

I just wanted to get some other peoples' thoughts on Leaderfins foot pockets as I have heard some negative comments made about them. I have a pair of Leaderfins Carbon Waves medium stiffness in Leaderfin foot pockets.

When I was on an Aida *** course some of the other people commented that the foot pockets were too soft and as a result inefficient. I decided I would try another type of foot pocket so I went and purchased Omer Millenniums.

I have tested the Leaderfin blades in both types of pockets and was somewhat surprised by my findings. The Omer Millenniums took 14 kicks per 25 m in a time of 30-31 seconds. The Leaderfin foot pockets took 16 kicks per 25m in a time of 27-28 seconds. The Leaderfin foot pockets were also less demanding on my thighs than the Omer Millenniums.

Has anybody else experienced the same? Are there any other foot pockets that people have found that are more efficient than the Leaderfins foot pockets?

Cheers

Hi Marine boy

Well i have leader fins fiber glass and recently i got XX one fixed to Pathos foot pocket new type (Mix of fiber and carbon fiber) since the leader fins foot pocket is made like the Omer Sting ray (With bigger angle) you will find it different from the Omer milinium... The only difference was not in efficiency when i switch between them For me it is difference in the way of kicking because of the difference in the angle.

For Leaderfins foot pocket i am not caring about the way i am kicking and still it is effeicient

For Pathos foot pocket i have to make my kick the best i can to get better effeiciency in this foot pocket

Comparing leaderfins rubber omer rubber, and pathos rubber pathos is the softest then omer and then leaderfins rubber.

All best

Hi Salethefish,

Thanks for the feedback on the Leaderfins. I will probably stay with the Leaderfins foot pockets until I hear of something that is significantly better.

Cheers

Marineboy,

There are a lot of us using medium or soft footpockets and doing fine with them. My E-carbons have a very soft footpocket and I had no trouble getting back from 40 m.

There are a lot of divers who would be better off with softer blades and footpockets, but many of them are sure they must have the siffest combination possible.

My testing with 8 or 9 combinations gave results similar to yours. My E-carbons were the fastes fins in the group, followed by my SpecialFins Bluewater Specials in Dessault pockets. The slowest were Picasso Black Teams and E-blacks, both very stiff.

Same results for 25 m or for 400 m. Softer is more efficient and more comfortable by the numbers. One problem is that a lot of divers feel like they are going faster with stiffer fins. it takes timing distances to show the softer ones are faster.

Leader foot pockets are very good for the price, but personally I use pathos foot pockets as they are so light

Any other thoughts on the Leaderfins footpockets?

I have heard that they are copies of the Omer Stingray pockets... but softer. I have also heard that the stingrays are super stiff in the side ribs and turns blades into planks for 1/2 of their length.

Are the leaderfins pockets a reasonable pair with stiff leaderfins blades?

stingrays are a bit stiffer but i love them my current favorite set up is stingrays with spierre carbon blades i think the bigger angle makes up for the stiffness compared to say my 3000lds with are soft but with alsmost no angle I think my energy expedature is about even
