hello everybody,
i am new of this forum my name is pierluigi and i am from italy.
the reason why i am writing is that in june 2008 i bought a leaderfins hyper (not pro) after 2 weeks i was using it ,the glue started to come out, i talk with the company, i sent it back and they gave me another one.
after one month same thing.
i wrote them back asking a model with no problems; they send me a hyper pro. I receved it the end of december 2008 and i used it since 2 weeks for now everything seems ok.

has anybody experiece with this model??
PS. sorry for my bad english.

thank you for answers.

No personal experience of Leaderfins Hyper pro. I have a few friends though that have it and as far as I know they have had no significant problems after a few years of use.

I know people who have had problems with straps coming undone on a few different makes of fin at some point or another. My Leaderfin has held out well so far fingers crossed.

Has anyone repaired their own straps and glued them back themselves?

Which glues seem to work for keeping them stuck permanently?

I had to shorten the straps on my Glide (a hyper version), so I cut them in half and glued back together with ordinary Super Attack super glue. The seam had some cracking noise the first time I put the fin on, but that´s due to that the glue becomes hard and non-elastic when it dryes. But so far it has worked perfectly.

You can test if the glue you have works by buying a few strips of similar rubber material and then do a few test sessions by gluing strips together and then try to break them.

I have also used ordinary superglue to attach the tip of the footpocket to the fiberglass. It seems to work. But I bought a glue from "loctite" that is the same kind of glue as superglue (cyanoakrylat) but it is elastic. This is probably the best to use. You could ask a dealer of locktite maybe. There is also a glue called cyanokril that is supposedly the normal one to use. This glue is "slower."

Hi Dasurriento,

I have both a hyper and hyper pro. I use the Hyper Pro in the pool only and the Hyper for Depth events.
They Hyper pro I have owned for almost 3 years now and have never experienced a problem with it at all.
The Hyper I have owned for coming up to 18 months. The only issue I have had was with the attachment of the bonding between the foot pockets and the "wings" they fit to the leading edge of the monofin blade. I used a rubber adhesive to bond them all together and have had no issues since.

My Hyper Pro has done many many laps of the pool (as my training partners will attest to) as I train with it anywhere from 4 - 6 days a week.
I have seen Monofins not last as long as mine has and I believe that the biggest issue that people have with their monofins (no matter the brand) is poor technique causing stress and loading on the mono in the wrong places.
Excessive knee bend seems to be the biggest cause of pocket / blade failure in my observation. :naughty

I strongly suggest to anyone using a monofin that they train with someone that has plenty of experience to assess the technique when using the Monofin so that you can get maximum use from your investment.
If you dont have access to someone with experience, study the techniques of others that you can find on the internet and try to match what they are doing.

Some suggestions would be Peter Pedersen, Dave Mullins, Ant Williams and Alexey Molchanov to name but a few.
I studied Peter Pedersen and Ant Williams and Andy Ross's technique, then adapted it to suit myself and it seems to work out ok for me. :)
Ant always stressed to me the importance of technique training.

You can probably add yourself to that list, mister Hibbs!

I've had a hyper pro without problems for a while now and it's done me fine. Kerian has probably put more laps into his than the rest of our club combined (barring Dave, probably), so when treated well they can last a long time.
