I need some help on chosing a light for freediving at night time :)

Any recommendations? I would think that something small like UK mini Q40 would work, but I'm worried that it wouldn't be enough for the only light... :)

p.s. While diving Lake Geneva last night, I found out that there's some very interesting creatures crawl out at night, that I've never even heard about - mudpuppies :) It was great, too bad I didn't have a camera with me.

That light is quite ok. We have no other possibilities than to dive in total darkness when we go deeper and most of us are using that equipment attached to mask.

Most Polish freedivers dive with it and there's also darkness from about - 20 meters in polish lakes.

It works fine for competitive freediving where all you need to see is a line. I've never tried it for recreational diving but I think that it might not be enough.

Greetings - Piotr

If your looking for a mask light it's fine, but if you want something with more power there are a LOT of choices- all depends upon your budget.

We usually see those mudpuppies under the ice in winter time- they hide under the rocks and you can find them if you turn a few over.

Thanks a lot!

I'm going to buy a small one first and see how it'll work out for me :)

Mud Puppies are pretty neat. I didn't know they even lived in North America until a storm overflowed a lake which filled up our parking lot at work. A Mud Puppie, panfish, and some catfish were swimming everywhere.
