Line Gobbler in use with Cressi-Sub SL pneumatic gun

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I had basically very similar idea to make something like "Line Gobbler" years ago, but never realized it. My intention was to minimize the drag of the line through the water while the shaft is collecting the wrapped line from line release during shoot. My line container was supposed to be dry - without water in it. I thought it would significantly increase the shooting range of the speargun.
I just saw the previous thread:

It seems that the "Line Gobbler" solved my goals too. It is also without water in it. Water can be pushed out with the action of pump‘s piston.
If I would had that gadget I would certainly make comparison measurement of speed and energy using the Line Gobbler and classical line release.

Once developed a similar reel for long guns! Unfortunately, in our freshwater reservoirs there is no place for it on the gun, since a flashlight is used and a trophy breaks out a brush at the expense of the formed lever when jerking under a hunter!

I think that the deeper down you were then the better the suction retrieval of line would work as the pressure differential would be greater. Although the claim was it offered less drag than shooting off a reel the reality is no one shoots directly from a reel and uses a line wrap system on their gun which is backed up by a reel.

I‘v also read this claim from the video presented: "Zero resistance on the line when shooting unlike the "Slinky Cords""
I do not understand what "Slinky Cords" means?

They are referring to Auto-Coils, like this one. Used in the USA instead of line wraps. A slinky is one of those soft coil spring like toys that walk and descend down stairs, like a caterpillar moving in half loops. They come in different lengths, up to 20 feet and sometimes more.
