Let me get this straight.

02 and c02 tables DO NOT affect your tolerance in the long term, they are only a method for acute increases. IE: only prior to a breath hold. Correct?

or not..

Not correct... they do increase tolerance in the long term. That is why there are tables of increasing difficulty - so it is possible to increase tolerance over several weeks or months.

I don't know what you mean exactly, but tables are mostly used for building up long term tolerance, not immediately before a breath hold. I wouldn't be able to do my best time or distance a few minutes after doing a hard table. The improvement would be seen maybe the next day, or over the next few days.
