Heading South of Puerto Vallarta next month and decided to take a shorty for comfort and to add a loading pad.

I had a bunch of scrap closed-cell foam used to rig-out kayaks in the garage so I cut a small piece to cover my sternum. I traced the pad outline on the shorty with a pen and then coated the matching sides with Barge cement. After a 15 minute cure I placed them together (get this right the first time), pressed them and then let them dry.

Does anyone have experience with the durability of Barge cement in marine environments? I'm debating whether to seal the edges with seamgrip but it may just be over-kill.

29 days and counting...

Robert

RA sell a strap-on loading pad which is reasonably priced. Jeremy also suggest using the sole of an old flip-flop/thong -- which is what I use. The ones I used are thicker and firmer than neoprene/foam/mousepads/etc. - which I found is important to avoid bruising.

Be Jesus Mr X, “Strap on’s, Thongs, thicker and firmer ones” !!!!!
Whatever next….. Best make sure Madam Sands doesn’t see this thread!!!roflroflrofl

And yes an old flip flop soul will do the job.

FYI - Barge cement was marginal, but sufficient. I would use seamgrip next time.
