Lonshaft on a RIB

Hi Guys,

Thinking of running my longshaft engines on a 11ft RIB? Potentially lethal or not a problem.

Anyone got experience of this? Do I need a Transom JackPlate or will such a little boat just deal with it but lose top end speed?

Not a good idea, as long as the water inlet is below the sea level the motor will work but extra drag & difficult steering will be bad.
It must be a pretty small motor on a 11' boat?

Thanks for the info mate. The engine will be either my 8hp or 15hp (both 4 Strokes). Think i'll try it out but then set about making a transom jack from mild steel plate and hardwood.
