Hello. I just moved back to Michigan from Hawaii. I have been free dive spearfishing competitively for years. I'm looking for a dive partner as well. I live in Ann Arbor.
Hello. I am a freediver from central Ohio. If you are looking for a great place to train and to play around in. we have an awesome quarry named Gilboa in northwest Ohio just to your south. We have a small group of freedivers that make frequent trips to Gilboa on the weekends from June through October once the waters warm some. Gilboa has a deep side where you can reach 125 ft right off the steps and platform where you enter the water. It will not be like Hawaii diving as you will hit two very distinct thermoclines. The surface temp and first 25 ft will be nice and warm then it drops to the low 60's and then deeper it will drop to the 40's. Below 100 ft it will be around 39! 5mm wetsuit is a must. The shallow side has lots of cool wrecks that have been sunk by the owner in depths of 25 to 50 ft. They have lots of small boats an awesome Grumman airplane, a huge sikorsky helicopter, school bus, big round tubes training platforms and many fish that you may not shoot or touch but they love swarming around you especially on top of the school bus. Next summer you will have to make several trips a few hours south and I can meet you there and show you the place and we can do some fun training!
