I live in Gainesville and am trying to find some new spots to get my freediving bug out at.

I would like to find an area where i can consistently practice some 90-100ft dives, with decent clarity/lighting.

Currently I've been to: Troy, Hart, Otter, Ginnie, Blue( near Ginnie), Peacock, Rum Island, Poe, & Ichetucknee springs.

check the cave and cavern list on this site:

I'd call it an advanced freedive, but Morrison should give you close to 100. You will have to pull yourself into the second cave, a strenuous affair. If you go deeper once inside the second cave entrance, there is enough light to see. Be careful going above the entrance, you can lose the light. Again, this is an advanced dive, overhead environment, etc. Even if you are capable, do not try to enter the 3rd cave. Be Careful. This is a place where the cavern shape has changed over the years and maybe since yesterday, so explore it slowly, no more than a few feet deeper each dive and LOOK BEHIND YOU.

Another option is Blue Springs, north of Orlando. 80 is reasonably easy and its possible to do over 100, but its a long way laterally and very dark after 90 or so. Call it an advanced dive after 85. Lots of people freedive there.

You say you have been to Peacock - have you done Orange Grove Sink near the park entrance? You can get pretty good depths there without venturing too far back into the cavern/cave (even though it may look unappealing at the surface, it always clears up once you get down to 30-40').

Thanks,

Scott

Yeah I've done Orange Grove Sink twice now, made some videos there last time with a go pro. Definitely a nice dive.

Also went to Running Springs for the first time, probably 25-30ft max depth that I saw, but it had an extensive system. Really nice natural spring though, not developed at all.
