Hi,
I am only casually starting out - when I have more time I hope to put it into apnea training. However, here is my trouble.

My dry-land static PB is currently 4:08
I do this usually after two warm-up breath holds of 2:30 and 3:00 - the PB of 4:08 came after only a week or two of practising. My problem is that I can't translate this into a DNF PB of any relative merit. Last night I managed 45m - which, to date, is my PB.

I swim quite well (over water - with a 1500m PB of 21:08) and am pretty fit overall (2008 Marathon in 2:59).

Any help would be greatly appreciated - I think I need it!
/Trev

Top four tips:

1. If you haven’t allready, start training with Stockholmapnea. (Stockholm Apnea - hem) from them you can learn all you need to know.
2. Get your weighting right. Make a neck weight that keeps you neutrally buoyant at the depth you swim at.
3. Train more DNF, you get good at what you train. Do 25 m lengths back and forth, try to minimize the number of strokes you need for one length.
4. Look at DNF videos on youtube and emulate.
And if you’re just starting out 45 m is not that bad. Be patient.
