im looking for a good polespear to buy. i am justgetting into spearing and i want to start with a polespear because form what i have been reagin, using a polespear at first will make me better at stalking the fish. i want your guys opinions on what polspears are good ones. i was debating between the jbl travel spear and this http://spearfishing.cc/Pole%20Spears.htm. please i need your guys experienced opinions

i want to start off with a polespear and when im better at diving and stalking fish im goning to look into a good spear gun. but for now i need your guys opinions on polespears

yeha i saw that 1 but i dont think im good enough to justify buying a polespear for that much. i am looking to spend 50-80 bucks on a decent to good polespear.

Surfa-

I am assuming you are in the islands...so look up Lance Ohara and get him to make you one. Should be $60-80, and are aluminum/graphite. Or look up Mike Kawamoto in Hilo...he makes the kawabunga 3 prongs. get the 7'-er

Matt

go on to Ebay and check out "Linghunt" pole spears. Both my Self and JimDoe2You are using these. they are of EXCELLENT Quality, and priced under $100. I am very impressed with mine.

John (the creator) just sent me a prototype sliptip, from the look of it he used to work for Nasa, can't wait to test it out! he can do custom jobs as well, so shoot him and email and let him know what you're looking for.

I also have a pole spear from Linghunt and I'm very happy with it. It just sucks that the tip got unscrewed and I lost it the first day I tried it out.:vangry

You cant use a speargun in bahamas so ill have to get one of these to hit big grouper. Anyone have any experience with these?

never was fond of a Hawaian Sling (like those pictured). always prefered the control of a pole spear when targeting larger fish.

From what i heard its the best way to get a real big fish. i dunno.

Greekdiver,
I have used a Hawaiian sling with great results in the Bahamas. I beleive that you can only use a Hawaiian sling in the Bahamas. Check it out and have fun:D

Which one did you use? the top or bottom one in the picture

Greekdiver,
The bottom one. I've never used a sling with a pistol grip. Seems like the one with the pistol grip would be hard to shoot accurately. Anyway, have fun and good shooting.
