Hello,
i will be in Cuba in the first two weeks of February.
I would like to do some spearfishing but also just enjoy freediving.
Can anyone give me tips? (I saw some older threads, but i guess things in cuba might be changing fast ).
Basically it would be nice to know good spots on the Island. We have not planned our trip yet, so a good spot would make a nice travel destination, that we could plan other activities around.
My partner likes snorkeling but is not into freediving/fishing, so a spot where she also could enjoy the water would be very nice.

Thanks a lot!

Hi John,

I just joined deeper blue and was looking around getting familiar with the forums.

You probably didn't get any replies to your post because few people have been to Cuba.

How was your trip in February? Can you tell us a little about how it went and if you did any spearfishing?

Thank you!

Spearfishing is now illegal in Cuba the law just changed, I was there in Nov 14 and it was ok but a month later y mate got stopped by customs ppl and had to pay 500 euros to get his equipment back when he was leaving

I was there twice in the last 3 months and had no issues at all. One of the times had to go trough a customs check . they saw the guns and asked some questions( does the pneumatic one shoot in automatic mode??!!) and was told to be sure to take all equipment back with me and that was it. No issues.
