Came across this article today- :)

http://www.divegirl.com/freedive.html

Is it an accurate portrait of freedivers (no doubt we are a good looking group of humans)? Are we really so vain or is it just that we have more important things on our minds… like keeping everything off our minds.

Lately I’ve had trouble staying interested in the women that I meet. I think all this apnea has done something to my brain. With that though, it also doesn’t seem to concern me as it might have a few years ago before I started diving.

I remember when this article came out a few years back that a few freedivers were pissed off! I thought it was great :)
Peace

pretty funny article!

But on a serious note I wonder how love and bitterness affects freediving? I've done a search on the forum but came back empty handed. I ask because I often think of my relationships (past and current) when I'm diving. On one hand thinking about these relationships distracts me front thinking about breathing, on the other hand, these relationships bring about strong emotion which I'm sure uses oxygen.

Any thoughts?

heheheheheheheheh, prettty accurate for the most part.... almost.

particularly the part about us making scuba divers look like nerds with all their gear.

The author clearly has not met most of the guys that hang out on DB.

I thought the article was a hoot.

The reality is that most freedivers are men ... :(

Most women I've met were terrified by the idea of freediving, which is one of the reasons why me and my ex went on separate holidays ...
