So I have been freediving for a year or so now and am in the market for carbon fiber fins. The high end fins such as DiveR and Alchemy are $500+. Are the Mako carbons of the same quality as these high end brands, is it worth cheaping out or just saving for the best?

The Makos look like a good deal to me - but I'm a spearo not a competition freediver.

Also, I have a good idea of my foot size in EU sizes and UK sizes but not US sizes, which I found to be inconsistent when I lived there. Conversion tables and equivalent sizes on shoe boxes are more often wrong than right in my experience. I find the EU sizes to be the most consistent for me.
