Morning all, new to diving but taking a great interest in freediving and signed up for scuba cert next month. Anyways I was hoping to find any lake near Wausau that offered decent visibility? Just looking for a place that is less than an hours drive so we can get in the water more than once a week.

Also we started a freshwater lake index/forum for keeping track of any recommended lakes by state. Please feel free to visit and post any recommendations. Freshwater Dive - Index

Thanks!

hello. i am basically from the stevens point area, so i can kind of help you here. although, i have never been free diving or scuba diving in marathon county, i can tell you about tons of lakes just south of you in portage and other nearby counties. in addition there are a couple of small old quarry lakes west of mosinee that i think im going to try, these should have excellent visibilty.
