well... after years of spearing back in my natal country ...where every spearo uses only pneumatic guns.. I'm finally considering buying my first band speargun and here it goes:

I'm being offered a marc valentin eurogun 100 cm reel included at a price no dive shop in miami can match.

I will gladly like to hear advice from you gurus of the band speargun.. I fish in 30-50 ft range targeting grouper..snapper, cudas, hogs .

now my main question is : is this gun quality comparable to let's say rob allen, omer, picasso..?.. is a gun I will enjoy for years to come?

I currently own seac sub 90 and seac sub 115... with no complaints but also expensive at maintenance so I would like to try with band guns.. your advice will be helpfull :)

I just got one of these a week ago and have not had the chance to test it out yet

However I did spend some time holding it (as should any gun lover) and noticed that it is simple and sturdy and in that 100cm size it should hold its own to the other euros.

I would go for it!

nice looking piece of kit,i would go for it,let everyone know how you get on with it and post a report after you a give it a go

finally got it!! like to say thanks to both of you wich helped me make the purchase... I liked the simplicity of the gun..very easy to work with, very powerfull firing a 6.5 mm spear, high quality articulated wishbone, reel looks tough and easy to work... made in spain at the very same small and only one dive shop marc valentin had before he died...got this toy for 175 dollars reel and line included, I will post again after first water test if you guys are interested.

Congrats, MV are good reliable guns! But I will say, farters are great also- as for maintenance, bands can get expensive too. I would consider changing wishbones to Stainless cable (quieter)good luck:friday

^^ thanks for your advice... did not knew that!!... don't have any experience with band guns :)... any advice on loading techniques? ... my chest was suffering just after a couples of loads :blackeye...

Riffe makes a loading pad (Austins has it) or you can DIY it with a rubber chanquleta (velcro or glued to rashguard). As for the loading method do a search here with those words as it has been asked quite a few times, I think the picasso site has a pictorial.

did you ever try a pc mouse pad under the wetsuit?

lol about the zuelas de chancleta glued to the chest rofl
