Help!!!
I cannot find Mares Cyrano 700 with reel all over UK. Anyone knows shop or link to on-line shop?
Paul M

Are you looking for a UK online-shop?

There are plenty in Italy (eg., Acquasport - Pesca subacquea - Apnea - ARA or Strumenti nautici e attrezzature da pesca ai migliori prezzi :: TuttoPescaMare), France (eg. chasse sous marine.net, achat vente d'équipement et matériel de chasse sous-marine or SCUBALAND Magasin d'équipement et matériel de plongée sous-marine vente en ligne sécurisée) and other continental European countries. However, you will get the best prices in Italy.

Anyhow, why a Cyrano and not Stealth/Spark? The latter costs much less (approx. - EUR 50!), is better balanced (not front heavy like the Cyrano) and - except for the muzzle which gives the name to the Cyrano and the rubber insert on the handle - is 100% identical. IMHO the extra money you will spend on the Cyrano is wasted. Actually, once I find the necessary Stealth/Spark spares I am going to convert my Cyrano 700 into a Stealth/Spark.

Hello, Ulysses!
Thank you for quick answer and your advice. I don't speak Italian nor Spanish, so I'm looking for UK on-line shop.
If Stealth is better, I can change my mind.
Regards,
Paul

that Stealth and Spark must be made in the same factory as the Cyrano, and looks really good. the article ulysses links to in his first post looks great, although I'll have to read real slow to get anything out...

It is an open secret that Mares belongs to the HTM (Head Tyrolia Mares) group which bought Sporasub some years ago.

The airgun currently marketed under the Sporasub brand by the name of 'Spark mimetic' used to be marketed as 'Stealth', but before sold under the Mares brand as 'Spark'.

The Sporasub Stealth/Spark and Mares Cyrano are manufactured in the same factory and have 100% identical parts except for the 'nose' (including the internal separator to prevent pressure on the plastic muzzle).

Cheers

Greetings everyone! I am wondering if anyone has contact info for the factory where mares spear guns are made. Please send any info you have. Thank you.

CD,

this is the contact info from the warranty:

Mares S.p.A.
Salita Bonsen, 4
16035 RAPALLO
ITALY
Tel. +39 01852011
Fax +39 0185669984

If the Mares spearguns are actually manufactured in Rapallo/Genoa, I don't know.

Cheers, ulysses

Thank you friend for the info. If anyone knows anything else please add. Thank you and have a great day.

Mares products labelled as Made in Italy are produced in the two factories based in Rapallo and Casarza Ligure, in the world's largest dive industry district (Mares, Cressi, Technisub, Seac Sub, Top Sub, Soprassub and other minors are all located in a few square kilometers along the coast of Liguria, north-west of Italy).

Mares factories in Liguria used to employ up to 300 workers until 2004, but then the workforce has been shaved down to below 200. I'm 99.9% sure that pneumatic guns are still overall made and assembled there (components coming from outsource specialized factories, cause you don't make in a single plant everything from tubing, moulding alloy and steel, moulding plastic, rubber and silicone parts, welding, paintjobs, printing logos and stickers....).

Reactions: foxfish
Spaghetti. Thank you for such detailed replay. The reason I was asking about the factory where Spearguns are made is I am looking to buy several tons of salt resistant aluminum pipes that are used in Mares pneumatic spearguns. I need to find out where to buy extruded salt resistant aluminum tubing, just like the one used for mares barrels where the piston is moving. Any help with that. Thank you.

Several tons? :duh

I really don't know where they get their aluminum pipes. There are many specialized factories in the Ligurian area making alu pipes under custom specifications.

If you need exactly the same as Mares, and not only something similar or even identical, but only and exaclty those specific ones, your only hope is to contact someone with a direct insight in the Mares business, and see if they're likely to share this kind of info.

Try this email: l.limongi@mares.com

He's Luca Limongi, product manager of the spearfishing line at Mares. I can't think of anyone better than him for your query.
