Confused about the black cord material and where it goes and the rubber ring

Your best bet is to take it to the dive shop you purchased from and have them help you out. That said I'll give it a shot.
The cord/rubber ring if I recall is to set up your shooting line/bungie (that would be your rubber ring). I usually use this ring as a loop to hold the loose end of my wt belt, as it is not that good a bungie. It seems you bought the mono, so head back over to your LDS and get a decent bungie cord (which serves the purpose of holding your shooting line tight to the barrel) attach the new bungie to the anchor which is just below the muzzle (looks like a "J"). Next use either the mono or shooting line (the one that came with the gun) and attach to the line retention ring (the little black thing around the shaft), put your shaft inside the muzzle BUT DO NOT LOAD, now follow the line from the tip of the muzzle (the line retention ring with line attached should be resting there) down the barrel to the release wrap it around and back up to the plastic anchor (which is where you attached the bungie) stretch your bungie a tad and tie the shooting line to it. With an 85cm one wrap should suffice.
