Alright guys, it's out (or at least it appears to be)...finding a place to buy one in the good old United States of America, now that's another issue.

Does anyone have any experience with the new Cyrano? I've decided that the 100cm is going to be my next gun, and as soon as Tromic gets a dry barrel system for it, that'll be my very next purchase (along with a system for my cressi 70cm). I was seriously looking at the Omer Airbalete 100, but found somewhat mixed reviews about the quality of the gun. I was also disappointed to learn that the placement of the handle meant that the Airbalete 100 had significantly less power than comparable 100cm pneumatics. I'm also not a fan of the Airbalete's power reducer option. I'm going to be using the gun primarily for diving structure where my main target will be 40-50 lb striped bass, but inevitably I run into 3-5lb black sea bass (my favorite fish) tucked into the rocks/sand. I'd like to be able to quickly toggle between high and low power. I don't expect to be able to use it as a hole gun, but I'd like to be able to shoot into sand or within 8-10 feet of rocks without worrying about snapping tips and bending spears.

Do you think the 100cm will be a good fit for this type of spearing? Also, based on the photos, the Evo HF appears to come with a reel (as it's always photographed with one), but I haven't found any literature which specifies that the reel is included. Does anyone know about this?

It's still a cold spring here, so talking about spearfishing is about as close as I will get for another month or two. So, pardon the over-exuberance.

Cheers,
Alex

The new cyrano isnt released in europe till the 31st of may.

I think you will be waiting a few months before people start to review them. Mares generally make quality gear and do proper R&D.

Bump. Any reviews on this gun yet? I've been looking, but still haven't seen anything on it.

There are some youtube videos of Italians using them (see below),
The release date has been pushed to 22.7.13 according to nootica.

The Mares "Cyrano Evo" has finally been advertised for sale by our Australian distributor in the current issue (October) of "International Freediving and Spearfishing News". A "Cyrano Evo" HF 110 is listed at $559 and the HF 90 is $539, so the usual small price increment for the different length models. A vertical reel is standard and included in the price. The cylindrical tank "Cyrano Evo" 70 is listed at $399, but is not fitted with a reel. For comparison the "Cyrano" 110 is listed at $479 and the "Cyrano" 70 is listed at $419, although having been around for a long time now the price is sometimes discounted on these guns when retailers want to move their stock.
