hey a friend just bought me a "Mares Mini Mini Sten Pneumatic Speargun" i have never owned a pneumatic spear gun nor do i know how they work other than they use air.... here are the specs i know about it as of now, i wont get to use it for about 3 more weeks but then i have a feeling it will go through alot of use...

42cm / 16.5 Inch Barrel Length Rigid Ergonomic Handle
Patented Side Line Release - Patented Safety Catch
Harmonic Steel Shaft (8mm Diameter / 7mm Male Thread) Hydrodynamic Line Retainer
Technopolymer Shock-absorber Bushing and Piston
High Capacity Air Chamber
Shaft 45cm x 8mm, Overall 60cm.

Sten is a well known pneumatic gun model and has great quality and power.

Regarding how it operates, yes it uses air to drive a piston into the back of the shaft to propel it at a great speed. Make sure to keep the inner barrel, muzzle and shaft free of dirt, sand, e.t.c because it can scratch the insides and damage gun, also don't use damaged or bent shafts in the gun as this can have the same effect also as well as reduced power and accuracy.

This 42cm model you have is well suited for close range, cave, hole or back up shots as its main purpose, that's about it so good luck!
