Mares phantom reel!

It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Yeah I'm in the States for this hollidays, If I arrange a trip to the Florida Keys this weekend I'd probably take this gun. I will input my experience with it first thing after I try it.

Cheers!

I got my 110 carbon Phantom today. The reel was pretty easy to install. The holes did not quite line up so I had to gently tap it with the screwdriver handle. I first installed it horizontal then decided for the angeled attachment for the hidden line so I had to gently tap the mount out of the reel with a small block of wood to reverse it. The gun looks more like fiberglass to me. For some reason I was expecting to see the shiny epoxy coating and carbon fibermat crosshatching like on the round barrel carbon guns. I am use to the Omer aluminum match reel. The plastic reel and the drag looks pretty cheap. I may try to adapt an Omer match if I have any problems in the future. This is really too much gun for Northern California. I hope to visit SolCal for spring break and may have a chance to try it then on white sea bass.

I find that very change, I think the Omer doesnt look half as good, that's just an opinion ....

I have both reels, both of them are very good, they never lock, the omer has less volume (maybe), I would not go to the trouble of replacing one for another.

hey my head is fried trying to work out how the line goes on my gun!
I just bought a phantom speed 95 with reel.

From the photos does it appear to be correct?
photos show:
mono goes from spear end down the left of the shaft below the dyneema, under the triangle hook at the side, over the spear under the rounded guide on the right of the muzzle, down the right side of the gun to the automatic side line releaser, the back up round round the hook below the barrel before the muzzle, returning back to the attach to the reel line (will properly crimp later) which feeds through the reel line guide on the barrel of the gun before the reel.

maybe its better if I run the reel nylon through the 2 reel line guides and shorten the mono- I suppose it all works out the same?
