Edward , Welcome to DB!!
i dont know this model in particular but airguns usually are filled to 18-20 ATM, go with 18, if it gets too easy, move up to 20, i would not recommed increasing beyond 24 though, unless youre sure that its ok for that model...

hows the hunting in Kenya? where are you located there, mombassa? tell us more
cheers

The Mares Titan is a veeeeery old model: my grandpa used to hunt with it. I must say it's a glorious speargun and you can be proud of your jewel, but you'll be hard pressed to find someone who still knows how it works and how much pressure it holds exactly.
Try it at 15bar, and if it's underpowered, try again with 20. But I wouldn't fill it more than 20. You must guess and try, try and guess...

and then guess and try somemore, careful though the rings are probably gooped so over pumping may cause it some dumping...of air

thanks for the advice folks. they are indeed old guns- owned by bruno brighetti we do fortunately have heaps of spares and bruno has shown me how to service them- he used hand pumps to pressurize them so was unsure of the correct pressure.
will be using them this week so no doubt there will be more questions when i get back from the trip.
cheers
