My wife is a Sama (the sea people of Philippines/Malaysia) & I a linguistic worker. When we got married, I managed to switch my works focus towards my wife's tribe. It just so happens that they are expert fishermen. Those handy with spearguns often tend to be quite good freedivers. I've been picking up things as I go along. I bumped into the first freediving instructor in the Philippines & we decided to make a cultural freediving contest. I'm taking up an interest in it now. We'll see if I can ever go below 100 feet.

Interesting story :) welcome to DB!

Welcome!

It's quite addictive and relaxing, once you get "deeper" into the sport.

Perhaps you can figure out how (specifically) they equalize their ears and if they ever get sick or injured (bends / DCS, ear issues, etc).

Welcome and enjoy the journey!

Thanks for the greetings. @ApneaAddict, they often have ear issues and there are a couple of stories that seem to hint at DCS, but it is hard to differentiate between what they get from speargun fishing and those that have gotten involved in compressor diving. As you said, I hope to learn a lot.
