I recently lost my weight belt, an Omer marseillaise belt with a stainless steel buckle.

I really liked that belt but don't like the idea of spending out on one again when Omer do a similar one with a black nylon buckle instead.

I haven't seen one in the flesh... is there any difference in the action between the plastic and metal buckles?

The plastic nylon buckle marseillaise belt is quite a bit cheaper than their stainless steel buckle belt.

Marseille belt PERIOD. Neptonics has the best belt and its a stainless buckle. I would get that any day over a junk plastic buckle.

Thanks for that... yes I agree with buying another marseillaise belt...

just wondering why you consider the plastic nylon buckle junk? have you used or heard reports about them being unreliable?

Found a Beuchat marseillaise belt with a stainless steel buckle for the same price as the nylon buckle so went for that.

I have that Beuchat, works well (as it should), a friend got one too as he was using a Nylon SCUBA one before and saw how a marseillaise was better.

Thanks that's encouraging my belt was shipped today - I should get it soon...

...just to clarify the nylon alternative I was looking at was also a rubber marseillaise belt - it had a nylon buckle & not a nylon belt.

I have the Sporasub marseillaise with the coated brass buckle, and it works great. I wouldn't trust the plastic not to fail. With my luck, it would break at the worst possible moment. I dont think plastic does too well in salt water and sun.

The Beuchat stainless steel buckle belt has arrived and has been tested. It is great and at least the same quality as the more expensive Omer one I lost.
