Hi all, I'm looking into buying a new mask, but I'm a bit overwhelmed with choice. I know the best thing is to be able to have a live test (to put the mask on my face), but the masks I'm looking at are difficult to find around my place.

I'm looking into the following:

Mares X-vision Liquidskin
Beuchat Maxlux
Beuchat X-contact
Omer Alien

It's only for pool use, no pro-freediving/spearfishing at sea or anything, but I want a cool, black mask, so... (The Mares is on top of my list so far...)

Anyone knows about these? Any experience with them? Pro's, cons? Maybe even other masks that I don't know of in the same type?

Thanks!
Jessie

1. Technisub Micromask (or its clones)
2. Omer Zero3
3. Sporasub Mystic
4. Aqualung Sphera

I have tried all of these.
Best all-round mask is Micromask (or clones)

Choose something from my list

Great suggestions, thanks. Any thoughts on visibility (horizontally and vertically) for each type?

Micromask is best from these, very good FOV. Zero3 is little bit worse, but not very much.
Sphera FOV is also superb, but it has plastic lens. Sporasub is okay and Cressi Minima is worst from here.

i cannot speak for the other masks but only for the cressi minima, because this is my freediving mask in the prezent...
i tent to use it offten at spearo because it has a very good field of view:
so even the lenses are tiny, because of the little distance between the eyes and lenses, the visibility is very good for a such low volume mask...
and this mask are another advantage: when the water is cold, the lenses remain clear and don't become blurry, unlike my cressi penta lenses...

if only for pool, the coolest i guess is Sphera, but the image can become distorted...

Sporasub Mystic: SPORASUB MYSTIC MASK

Micromask clone - Spetton Minimax: SPETTON MINIMAX MASK

Cheap and good. If only for pool, i would take Sporasub, because it has very soft silicone skirt - comfy. And its also one of the best masks for deep freediving )))
I use Spetton mainly for spearing for its great FOV and simplicity. For freediving i use Zero3, it fits very good and very compressible.

I've used AquaSphera for years, and wouldn't trade it for anything else. You can get in on Ebay for 20 British Pounds.

I don't understand what people mean by "image can get distorted". If you're not spearfishing, Sphera is your mask with a perfect view and probably the best FOV of any mask!

you are right [my post was ambigous]
however i wouldn't spend so much money for a pool mask only...
