MASK dry training

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
The issue with these masks is that they don't do exactly what the say they do. The claim that they simulate low 02 at altitude is false, all they really do is increase the resistance it takes to breath which increases CO2 levels. So although it isn't "altitude" training and won't do much for increasing your hypoxic tolerances, they do expose you to a feeling of suffocation which could (not necessarily) translate to higher CO2 tolerance for freediving..

I think I said this on another thread or a facebook post.. but you could save some money by just working out harder. 1:00 flat-sprints with the mask could just be replaced by 1:30 sprints up a big hill.

I have read the above article, and now it comes to light something like "sleep in altitude, train at sea level".

So basically you are o2 deprived and while you are in a sedentary state at altitude so your organism gets used to living "suffocated" and at normal sea level you are o2 replenished so you can more efficient and "turboed".

I had a work colleague that used to sleep in an altitude tent prior to competitions, he was a runner.. so no it all makes sense =)

You can also do cardio (stair master, etc) and just breathe through your nose...
thanks for the tip, I do know that nose breathing and alternating from nostril to nostril will make you lungs stronger, yoga pranayama.
works like this, if you inhale with your left nostril you strengthen your left lung and vice versa.
