I'm just getting into spearfishing and want a nice mask, the only problem is that there are no stores around here with anything worthwhile so trying them on isn't an option. Are there any masks you guys could suggest for someone with a fairly narrow face. I have been using a Cressi, I think the model is ochio that a friend lent me. All of my diving is going to be pretty shallow around 15 to 30 feet.

Also, does anyone have any tips for keeping a mask from fogging up? I spit on the lenses before every dive but these cressi's just keep fogging. The mask is ancient though so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

I'm a smallish guy, and I love my Technisub (Aqualung) Micromask.

As for fogging, the standard new mask protocol for me has always been liberal toothbrushing, followed by a quick yellow flame on the inside of the glass. I generally use defog gel at the start of the day, but I don't know that it's really more effective than spit.

Thanks for the help! I'll look into the micromask.

Hey Spencepb,

FWIW, my SO has a very small face, and most masks won't seal on her face, but she's been using the Cressi Minima with no leaks at all.

I just got the aqualung micromask and got to use it last week, it seals on my face perfect and it is really comfy. No problems fogging, but I had sunscreen on my face, which smeared on the lens from my eye brows! Id say its pretty low profile! Thanks for the help and Ill keep the minima in mind for a backup or something.

Glad to hear, spencepb

After you've used it for a bit could you let us know how you like it?

We're now thinking of getting that mask for my SO. It seems kind of expensive compared to the Minima, though. We got the Minima for the DeeperBlue Shopping page for 22 Euros. Could you let us know how much you paid for your Micromask?

I Haven't used it enough yet to tell you but I will surely let you know in the near future. I got it at leisure pro for $80 us.

Ok so after using it for about 3 trips I realized that it doesn't fit me. Water leaks in under my nose and the mask presses on my eye brows and gives me a headache. I guess my problem is that my face is narrow but long if that makes any sense. I just got an omer alien in the mail and Ill try it out tomorrow. It feels really nice but I have a feeling it might push on my eye brows as well.

That's exactly the fit issue my SO has as well. Thanks for the update spencepb! I guess she'll just stick with the Minima for now.
