I need suggestions for a proper mask for freediving.

I have a narrow face. Saddly i've found that many masks marketed for kids and ladies fit well.

Right now I have a dive rite frameless mask that fits great, a wee bit too much volume. My old ScubaPro CoolVu fit well too.

Last year I got an Omer Alien which fits okay, however if I make any facial expression it breaks seal and leaks.

The ScubaPro Orbit fits okay.

The Atomic Frameless, not so well.

The Cressi minima fits much like the Omer Alien. As soon as I make any sort of facial anything it leaks.

Hopefully this will help you guys give me some feedback.

In this neck of the woods, freediving isn't a big thing. I can't go to the old LDS and try some on. I'm going to have to do the mail order thing.

Let me know your thoughts!

Thanks,

Chris

micromask by aqualung or technisub is a corker! Small volume, good viz, fits smaller faces well too. Give one a try before buying if you can

Thanks for the tip on the MicroMask. I called around and I have an LDS that has one in stock!

Still open for other suggestions!

Micromask is absolutely great! seconded. Apollo have just released a nice mask with aluminium frame that is quite small and seems very rugged. have tried it on, but not in water - yet.

Hi Paddler3

The Cressi Minima fits very narrow faces in our experience.

It's pretty cheap if you order it from the DeeperBlue store link- the best price we could find.

Best regards,
Steve

hey mate. i have had a technisub micromask for about a year now and it is hands down the best mask i have ever owned, i cannot reccomend it highly enough. super comfortable, doesnt leak and is extremely low volume.no bad points at all. it is a tad more expensive than other masks but is well worth the little bit of extra cost for such a quality product.

hhaa, after recommending it a few small things you may encounter with the micromask:
1. the strap is quite flimsy, if you use a typical snorkel keeper the snorkel will end up all over the place .. wedge it under the strap, tie it to the back, or best of all if freediving keep it in your hands when UW
2. (just me I think) on the last part of the ascent I loose visibility due to the water turbulence on the lenses. Does not help if you are struggling to keep a clear head, everything goes a little "whooooshy" ;)

Just small, subtle points, on the best mask out there IMHO.
