Well, I was doing some browsing and I found, what I thought to be a killer deal. My knowledge on monofins is low as I am just starting to learn about this aspect of the sport, but I figure I didn't have much to lose.

Mascotte Professional made by Mat Mas. Anyone used this fin? Is it any good? I know pretty much nothing about it.
The only issue I am worried about is glueing the fin straps.

Wicked deal! Mat Mas has been around for a while and made some good blades.
I think I used basic rubber cement when I was gluing straps in the past.

Basic rubber cement? That holds?

Good to know I may have gotten a good deal! I can't find a SINGLE thing about this fin

Just got home with my new monofin! The person who I got this from got it when he lived in France and just never got around to using it - and it shows - this thing looks practically new!

Now on to trying to glue the heel straps..

Good stuff! Make sure you have some neo socks - monos will make hamburger out of your feet otherwise :blackeye

Not going to work for these. The fit is super tight - a lycra is probably all I will be able to wear! The pockets seem super comfortable though

Tape up your toes with insulation tape where it rubs, that way you escape the blisters.

Monofin pockets take a while to get used to, but they're not quite as bad as some people seem to imply. Just think of it as low-level chinese foot binding

Thanks for the tip..Im trying to locate a source for the recommended Bostik 2402 adhesive - but coming up blank :head

Hi, congrats for your purchase.

I suggest you to use CYANOCRILATE also know as LOCTITE and 406 formule (for rubber), easy to find in stores (brico-stores or similars).

It's the glue used to endsamble monofins, fins, etc...

I don't know if it's the same as "Bostik 2402 adhesive "

However you can contact MAT MAS, they will be glad to help you.

Bye, enjoy it

Thanks - I am going to check at some hardware stores today and ill look out for that! I actually tried to e-mail Mat Mas - but their email address (info@mat-mas.com) is not working and my message got returned. Thanks for the tip!

Well, I found two glues at Lowes today that might work.
One is "DAP Contact Cement" - says it will bond rubber and is a permanent and water resistant bond.
The other is by a "Professional Super Glue" by Loctite containing the above mentioned Cyanoacrylate

I am going to try the Contact cemeter first as it looks promising...

Well, the contact cement did not seem to want to bond, when it dried it became one big piece that peeled completely away from the rubber very easily..

I am trying the Super glue with Cyanoacrylate right now - i have the strap clamped down. Not sure how long to keep it this way - the directions only say 30 seconds but I know that won't be a secure bond on this application

Well I just removed clamps from one of the straps that I glued with the Cyanoacrylate super glue after being clamped down for about 2 hours and it looks very promising! It looks like it has bonded nicely and might just hold!

Now, has anyone used a secondary reinforcement method to assure the straps stay? I was thinking something like a thin metal clamp or staple that closes down on the straps?

I wouldn't staple it as it will probably explode under tension. I used high quality duct tape on an old mono and it never came apart.

Staple is in the incorrect word in lack of the right word. There is a device thats like a staple except instead of the pins folding in like a staple - they come in parallel to each other like this ||

Not sure if that makes sense but oh well..I was thinking Duct Tape too..I only have neon orange right now - but that'd be good to spice up this all black one - I suppose! I did want to add some color to the blade - any tips on that?

Ha!

This is the fin from ebay from two weeks ago! I was high bidder @ 20 American Dollars but I passed after seller told me it won't fit me, too small. Good for You I need 13+ size

She was right! I am a size US11-12 and I barely have enough strap to glue and defintely no way i could wear any kind of sock! I am glad you have such big feet! Plus, the seller was local too - so I got to save on shipping
