I am going to maui this weekend Does anyone know any good dive shops. I have a beauchat marlin its double banded and i want to get some upgrades for it? I am staying in napili point. Does anyone know any good spots i am going to malakine i think thats how its spelled. I dont think you can spear there though its a marine park i think but im not sure. any help would be appreciated!

I just got back from Maui in April, stayed in Napili also. I don't think you could spear Molokini, as it is probably protected but more so becuase it is jammed packed with snorkelers being shipped over on the charter boats. I don't know about the back side, but I have read that it has very strong currents for drift diving, so I don't know how that goes for spearing if its allowed. My unqualified spearfishing opinion :p would think that Molokini probably isnt the best place.

Too bad I didn't see this post sooner...or I could have been some help....

On Maui, the best Freedive/Spearfishing place is Maui Sporting Goods in Wailuku. They have fins, masks, snorkels, guns and accessories.....and best of all, a staff that actually uses what they sell.

No I don't work for them...they are just good brahddas.......

You can't spear at Molokini, in Honolua Bay or in the Ahihi Kinau areas...most of the rest of the island is open....just be careful of the currents, waves and water conditions.....
