im doing the measurements for my custom made elios wetsuit (5mm open cell). i saw in one thread someone suggested to add 0.5 or 1 cm to the neck measurements. and in another thread someone mentioned that elio sub makes their suits quite tight around the neck.

anyone here actually does it? adding extra length to the neck measurement?

anyone wants to share his/her experience with elios custom suits and their neck measurements?

thank you=)

I've ordered two suits from Elios in the past. One Heiwa in 3 mm and one Yamamoto in 5 mm. The 3 mm suit fit fine around the neck with the hood on or off, no issues. The 5 mm suit fit fine with the hood on, but cut off blood circulation to my head with the hood off.

That said, I wouldn't buy the Heiwa again. That 3 mm suit was very cold and either it compressed really quick, or they gave me the wrong thickness neoprene.

Since you're ordering from Europe and nearby Elios, I'd say in general they're a good brand and communicative. I cannot say the same ordering through the US rep.

hey thanks for your reply! i was planing to order a 5mm yamamoto aswell:)
so you say it was totally comfortable around the neck while wearing the hood?

i got a little confused about your comparision of the 2 suits. so you say, even though the hood of your 5mm yamamoto was restricting blood flow while having it off the head, you was overall happier with its quality compared to the 3mm heiwa?

Hi, I have been using ELIOS wet suit 5 mm for several years, I did not add anything to the neck measurement and it fits completely OK ( with the hood always on).

Yup, with the hood on, I was fine with the 5 mm Yamamoto. I was getting hot in the water, so I slipped the hood off and that turned out to be a bit restricting on my neck area. With any suit, the material kinks with the hood off so I can see how it happens.

Otherwise, the Yamamoto from Elios is very comfortable. Heiwa is one I'd probably not order again. Also, the fabric Elios uses seems to hold up really well with sun exposure compared to other suits that would've faded a lot more.

I know you're not asking about other brands, but so far I'm really liking the Polosub's suit I have.
