I was talking yesterday with a friend of mine about static and he told me that he can't switch off during and before his hard training statics I suggested him to do some kind of meditation for his static. What I do sometimes I do autogenic training but I think there must be otherthings that one could consider as well. It should be easily accessible to do. Maybe some of the expert static guys can chime in.

Im also interested in hearing how one can remain "zen". For me my HR rises for the start of a big hold. But interestingly enough once it drops down way low i get such a kick out of it i start to smile and giggle like a little kid. Im sure the more i do them the less i find an active dive reflex amazing and funny.

What about ear plugs to muffle sound and some dark paint for the swim goggles to block light? That should help to avoid sensory stimuli most of things which could distract while preparing for a hold.

Before I had my ear plugs, i used the swim cap to cover my ears. It is possible to relax with screaming children around but it is easier if you don't see or hear them.

If the water surface is smooth, it helps me relax is the safety divers moves me a bit simulating small waves :D
