I was snorkelling the other day and was getting ready for a shallow dive when I spotted one of these:

Cotylorhiza tuberculata - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I thought 'cool, I'll take a close look' but then I looked around and realised I was surrounded - so I had not suit on so I freaked out a bit and did a runner instead lol

I know their sting is not supposed to affect humans but I did read on some places that it might affect 'a little', whatever that means.

Was I right in getting out of there or just freaked out for no reason? Anyone knows if being stung by a large number of these could cause any harm?

Just curious as I'll probably see them again soon lol although regardless of the answer I think it'll probably just freak out again and do a runner, I hate the feeling of something touching you on the back while at sea when you least expect it :)
