Some time ago the member list and member search pages were taken out. I do not know the reason for that step, but I suppose it was to avoid spammers sending their spam by PM to memebrs from the list.

However, the feature is really missing - sometimes I need to find a member, and have to spend then quite a lot of time by browsing old threads instead of the simple member search.

Would it be possible turning on the member list and search features at least to the paying members (supporters)? I doubt spammers would go that far and supporting DB just to get to the list, and giving the supporters some more advantages over plain members might make the subscription more attractive.

There is a way to find people via the advanced search if you know their exact username. But it's a bit roundabout as you still have to go through a thread or post

If I know their exact name, I do not need to search them, don't you think Simos?

Well you still need to find their profile no?

Well just noticed that the URLs in vbulletin are rewritten so I guess you could stick their names in the URL in the right format and it'll work. How did the other search use to work? How could you search for them if you don't know their name? Could you search by 'real name'?

If I remember the handle, I can access the profile page without any problems directly. In the member list you can sort and browse the names by different criteria, and you can search the database with just a partial match.

Guys - the original reason for removing the member list was on security advice as we were getting hammered by spammers. The checks and policies we put in place have removed a lot of the spamming issues.

I'm happy to re-introduce the Member List for registered members and monitor how it goes for a couple of months.

Will look at re-introducing it later today.
